Consultant in Neurology

Applications are invited for a Consultant posts, based at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

The newly appointed consultants will provide general neurology services including: outpatient clinics; ward rounds; consultations on other wards and the associate administrative duties. This may include the provision of satellite clinics.

Main duties of the job

The appointed consultant(s) will:

Maintain the highest clinical standards in the practice of Neurology.
Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences.
Provide professional supervision and management of junior medical staff.
Be actively involved in the management of the department including attendance at the fortnightly Consultant/Directorate meetings and regular consultant away days.
Take part in annual appraisals (mandatory for all Consultants), carried out by the Clinical Director. Appropriate time and assistance will be provided for preparation.
Active involvement in audit.
Involvement in research - Joint research projects are undertaken with both the University of Teesside (University of the Year 2009) and Durham University and involvement in the further development of research links.
Continuing professional development.
Any other duties which may be required.
