Job summary

Ward 37 - Admission Unit - 37.5 hours per week

Acute Medicine is an integral part of front of house services within the Medicine and emergency care Collaborative. The speciality is focused on patients being in the right place first time and has strong links with primary care in an advisory, decision making and supportive role. The team work efficiently and effectively at pace to support early intervention, diagnosis and admission avoidance with the multi-disciplinary team focus. The service is interlinked with other services at the front of house including Accident and Emergency, Acute Assessment Units and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC).

Main duties of the job

The strategic goals of the front of house are focused on the patient journey and experience which is pivotal in minimising risk and reducing harm. The Acute team are high performing and deliver organisational requirements of a well led service.

We are looking for talented, motivated professional senior nurse, preferable in a clinical sister's position at present, although not essential, who is able to demonstrate strong leadership and managerial skills within the clinical setting. As the Ward Manager you will be pivotal in leading the team in the delivery of enhanced holistic services and standards of care to our patients aligned to the STAQC principles .

As an integral part of the managerial team you will be expected to demonstrate exceptionally diverse communication skills. Have an aptitude for people management and the professional competence to make informed decisions to effectively manage operational and clinical incidents, staffing issues and effective bed utilisation throughout the directorate.
