Job summary
The TVRA is a new amalgamated alliance of the Research & Development Departments from North Tees & Hartlepool NHS FT (NTHFT) and South Tees Hospitals NHS FT (STHFT).
The post holder will be responsible for the oversight and efficient functioning of the Chief Investigator Support Service (CI), ensuring CIs are appropriately directed to all sources of support for their study in line with the relevant SOPs. They will oversee both grant submissions and HRA applications for all CIs ensuring they are fully supported throughout by the appropriate personnel.
They are responsible for the oversight and performance of the Chief Investigator (CI) Support team alongside the TVRA Governance Manager and oversight of the Deputy Governance Manager post deputising for the Governance Manager where appropriate. Their key role is to ensure that that the TVRA offers an efficient, compliant, single point of contact service for sponsors and researchers to conduct research within the Alliance and that our studies are audited and monitored in line with national legislation with lessons learned being shared across the entire team.
They will be responsible for ensuring oversight of the CI team to ensure up to date research practices, policies and SOPs are followed across the Alliance and regular reviews are undertaken to ensure regulatory compliance and high levels of performance.
Main duties of the job
Be the first point of contact for Alliance-based Chief Investigators to identify governance related requirements for new projects, undertake sponsorship risk assessment and to assist with the identification of the appropriate support for HRA submission and grant applications
Assist the TVRA Governance Manager with line management of the Deputy Governance Manager when required to oversee R&D study support teams across the Alliance and the CI Support team - ensuring comparable competencies and performance across the alliance relating to national High Level Objectives (HLOs) and regional CRN:NENC performance metrics for all hosted research studies
They will be responsible for the oversight of monitoring and audit activity across the TVRA and any participating sites and ensuring that lessons learned from audits are disseminated across the entire research delivery infrastructure.
They will contribute to organisational meetings in relation to the delivery of the TVRA CI support function across the Alliance and regionally as appropriate.
They will ensure regular horizon scanning for research study opportunities across the alliance is undertaken to increase opportunities for study participation and will work with the Clinical & Operations Manager and Set up team to support novel and innovative ways of setting up studies to maximize recruitment to time and target from both trust and non-trust settings.
