This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our Stroke Rehabilitation Therapy Team based at Redcar Primary Care Hospital working across both the Early supported discharge team (ESD) out in the community and also on the ward providing stroke rehab. The post holder will be employed as a Senior Occupational Therapist working collaboratively with Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, dieticians and Generic Assistants across the stroke services.

You would be joining a very integrated working therapy team who work across traditional professional boundaries for the benefit of their patients and recently won an AHP award for best team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to have experience working with patients who have a neurological condition including Occupational Therapy assessment, rehabilitation treatment plans, patient flow and facilitating discharges. You will either have experience of working with stroke or neuro patients and have a special interest in stroke rehabilitation, with transferable skills.

The Therapy Services is a well established large, progressive and dynamic service, which continue to develop within the wider trust. The team is friendly and supportive and mentorship for this role will be available from senior clinicians and the AHP Service Leads.

This post offers development in clinical and leadership skills and the post holder will be supported to attend relevant post graduate courses. We have an established and comprehensive training programme & our staff are encouraged and supported in their CPD through workshops, clinical supervision and the appraisal process. There is also an expectation to actively participate in audit and research as the hospital has close links with the local universities.

As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist within the Trust the postholder will also be part of the wider Integrated Occupational Therapy Service. This is a unique partnership between Health and Social care in South Tees with a commitment to working together, improving the quality of our services and getting rid of existing barriers between health & Local Authority.

After you complete this four and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses dependent upon your role and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.
