Job summary
We are looking for an evening porter to support the Technical & Facilities team by setting up meeting rooms in preparation for the following day's events, teaching and activities.
The role involves arranging and moving furniture around the centre as requested by the team.
Provide support to staff and visitors who access the building during the evening. Provide a security presence and secure the building at the end of the shift.
Main duties of the job
As a support function for all users within STRIVE & the wider organisation the team is hardworking, responsive, helpful & has a strong team working ethic.
Restore all meeting rooms to a predetermined room layout or follow the bespoke guidance/requirements provided in the daily setup report.
Move the equipment/furniture requested to the specified rooms as per the daily setup report or communication from the Technical & Facilities team. Assemble the equipment/furniture and check that it is safe and in working order.
Equipment/furniture moved around the Academic Centre on a daily basis includes laptops, general ICT equipment, tables, chairs, opening/closing fixed partitions, catering trays/trolleys, and office furniture/equipment. These activities involve loads up to and in excess of 15 kilos. Tasks should be varied to avoid repetition and assistance should be requested when loads are heavy.
Assist staff and visitors who visit the Academic Centre in the evening by providing advice on matters relating to the centre's facilities, directions, additional equipment requirements, switching on equipment and providing support when minor equipment problems occur.
Undertake any other activities, which may be required to facilitate the smooth running of the centre, particularly in the absence of the Technical & Facilities team.
