Kitchen Assistant (Playdays Day Nursery)

Job summary

The Playdays Children's Nursery is an onsite nursery based at the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

We are looking for a full time Kitchen Assistant to undertake preparation and serving of meals for approximately 86 children per day.

Main duties of the job

The role will involve:

  • To receive trolleys containing hot food and prepare to serve, ensuring accurate records are maintained and serve.
  • Deliver and set up all individual trolleys in the rooms and ensure dining rooms are ready for meals.
  • Monitor and record food temperatures prior to and during service in accordance with food safety regulations and take corrective action where necessary if food does not reach the required temperature.

The role also includes:

  • Washing and cleaning of area, equipment and utensils
  • Light cleaning duties in the nursery rooms
  • To comply with all relevant food hygiene, Health and Safety and other relevant legislation ensuring all documentation is updated regular
  • To assist with the ordering and receipt of goods and supplies and place correctly in appropriate storeroom.
  • To ensure stock is rotated correctly and maintained
