Job summary

An exciting opportunity has become available to become part of the Paediatric Advanced Clinical Practitioner and Paediatric Nurse Practitioner team in the Children and Young Peoples Emergency department.

We are looking to appointment qualified Paediatric Advanced clinical Practitioners with a Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice but will consider experienced Paediatric Nurse Practitioners on to a trainee Advanced clinical Practitioner role commencing as a band 7 progressing to a band 8 a on completion of relevant training.

You will be part of the leadership team, providing leadership, training and guidance to the trainee Paediatric ACP's and PNP's as well as the wider CYPED team.

Main duties of the job

The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will have advanced knowledge and skills in Emergency Medicine and provide a direct contribution to the assessment, treatment, planning of care and evaluation of outcomes of patients attending the Emergency Department.

The post holder will work collaboratively within a multi-professional team. The post will be rotational, days/nights to provide 24 hour emergency care cover within the directorate.

  • oRegistered health care professional
  • oQualified/ or working towards Advanced Clinical Practitioner (must be on ACP programme)
  • oRecognised teaching certificate
  • oNon-medical prescribing
  • oPhysical assessment skills - Level 7
  • oMaster's degree or working towards
  • oRelevant ACP competencies to be completed

Desirable

  • oTrauma Nurse qualification (ATNC/TNCC/ATLS) (normally essential but due to COVID-19 can be working towards)
  • oEvidence of contributing to the development of healthcare staff at departmental and Trust level

Experience

Essential

  • oSignificant experience in Emergency Medicine at a senior level

Desirable

  • oExperience in providing counselling to patients and to support staff
