Job summary
The main purpose of the role is to ensure that administration duties associated with the admittance and release of patients to and from the mortuary are kept, providing a permanent record and full audit trail. This will involve logging details on the pathology computer system and liaising with the coroner's department to ensure all relevant paperwork has been received.
We are looking for a hard working and motivated team worker to provide support to the anatomical pathology team in the Mortuary. The successful applicant must demonstrate examples of where they have shown good communication skills, attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure. You will be based in the Mortuary Office working in a sensitive and emotive environment and must be able to retain a detached professional manner.
Full training will be given and you will work within a supportive and enthusiastic team.

Main duties of the job
- Administration duties associated with the admittance and release of patients into the mortuary including the transfer of details from the mortuary ledger onto the laboratory computer system.
- Scan coroner's paperwork onto the pathology shared drive to provide a permanent record.
- Ensure documentation relating to post mortems is complete taking appropriate action and liaising with Coroner's department if any is missing.
- Record relative's wishes as to the retention or disposal of material retained at post mortem and ensure those wishes are carried out in line with departmental standard operating protocols and HTA guidance.
