Job summary
37.5 Hours per week- Fixed Term 18 Months Apprenticeship
As an apprentice, you will be trained in the full range of nursing skills. You will use these skills to meet the needs of the patient in a safe, caring environment that promotes dignity, privacy, and respect, under appropriate supervision. You must be able to prioritise your own work to meet deadlines, have the ability to follow instructions, and have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. You will be confident, have a mature and flexible approach, be a good timekeeper and have the ability to work unsupervised to ensure the effective coordination of duties.
The James Cook University Hospital has 19 theatres in the main operating department, with a 10-bed recovery suite.
In addition to Main Theatres, there is a Surgical Day Unit which has a 23-hour male and female ward and 3-day surgery operating theatres. We also have a paediatric day unit where children are admitted and discharged on the day of surgery.
Main duties of the job
This vacancy is working within General & Obstetrics theatre. I would like to hear from an enthusiastic person to work in theatre & have an interest in working in this dynamic setting.
In return we will ensure that you receive all the training you need to be able to do this role fully and competently. You will be released for study and supported to achieve an Healthcare Support Worker Level 2 apprenticeship standard. You will receive 27 days annual leave and be entitled to a range of discounts on services and products from a number of retailers and organisations in the local area.
Applicants who have any of the qualifications listed below are not eligible to apply for this apprenticeship:
- A Health & Social Care NVQ qualification or apprenticeship (in the same field) at level 2 or above (If applicants have other qualifications that relate to Health & Social Care, an eligibility check will need to be completed to ensure they are eligible to do this apprenticeship)
