South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer the Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship. This may be an 18 or 24-month course - depending upon the higher educational institution. This is for internal trust staff who have a full foundation degree as an Assistant Practitioner or Nursing Associate.

Internal applications are welcomed from existing employees of South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for this exciting opportunity. All applicants:

  • MUST have certificate evidence of maths and English at L2/grade C or above;
  • MUST have certificate evidence of full foundation degree in healthcare;
  • must be working a minimum of 30 hours;
  • be available to attend for interview the week commencing 12th June May 2023 (due to the short timescales this may be in person or over Microsoft Teams) and
  • start the programme from September 2023.

PRIOR TO INTERVIEW YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT FROM YOUR MANAGER. THIS FORM CAN BE DOWNLOADED DURING THE APPLICATION PROCESS.

Main duties of the job

The Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship will be offered at the same AfC band that you are currently on, and upon successful completion of the programme staff will progress to an AfC band 5 Registered Nurse and will be able to apply for roles within the organisation.

There will be a joint interview between South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the Higher Educational Institution. As part of the short-listing process, your application will be assessed against joint South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the University short-listing criteria.

There will be an expectation for apprentices to work across other areas of practice including 'In Hospital, Close to Home and At Home' for example with community nursing teams, community hospitals, mental health wards (TEWV) and in hospital localities linked to your area of practice. This programme will involve some requirement for travel. Support will be provided for personal development, academic progression and clinical skills development throughout the programme.

Applicants must meet the minimum academic requirements detailed in the person specification and be able to present a portfolio as evidence of ongoing learning and reflection at interview if requested. Evidence of Maths, English and Foundation Degree must be presented at interview. You will not be interviewed without this evidence.

Leadership and Improvement Training

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust; this training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the New and Aspiring leaders programme, and the Foundation Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers. After you complete this one and a half day of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses and bite-size programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3, 5 and 7.
