An exciting opportunity has become available on Rutson Ward at the Friarage Hospital, Northallerton.

We are seeking to appoint a Band 3 Stroke Generic Therapy Assistant to join the ward based Therapy Team . The successful applicants will join the well-established Stroke and rehabilitation Therapy Team on Rutson Rehabilitation Ward.

Based at the Friarage Hospital with ample parking on site.

You will need to be able to work on your own and as part of a team and be involved with stroke patients with a range of multiple medical, social and emotional problems. The role will primarily involve working on the ward with stroke and complex rehabilitation patients.

Excellent communication skills, organisational skills, enthusiasm, commitment and ability to work with a wide range of agencies are also vital in this post.

You will need Level 1 in Maths and English or equivalent and NVQ Level 2.

Main duties of the job

This post provides an excellent opportunity for someone with relevant experience of working in a healthcare setting. You will need to demonstrate a good flexible approach to your work, good time management and organisational skills. You will work as part of the therapy team with training, supervision and ongoing support from the therapists.

To be successful in this role you will require sound core skills to support the stroke therapy services (Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy) within an inpatient setting.

Continuing professional development is actively encouraged and regular support and supervision will be provided by a Therapist. Participation in service developments and clinical governance is also expected, for which there is good support throughout the integrated Therapy service to help you develop.
