Specialist Lead Nurse Diabetes Band 8a
The James Cook has an exciting opportunity for an Expert Diabetes Nurse to join our team. The successful candidate will have a wealth of knowledge and expertise to influence and change clinical practice within the field of diabetes focusing on GIRFT key indicators. Get it right first time. This post is a new concept therefore will need a passionate/motivated leader to enhance seamless care across the inpatient and outpatient departments for our patients.
Main duties of the job
Given that adults with diabetes problems are twice as likely to attend an Emergency Department, and if admitted to wards stay twice as long, it is imperative that the Lead Diabetes Nurse will work tirelessly within the diabetes team to improve these statistics, this will require innovation and expert communication skills.
The James Cook University Hospital has an established Advanced Technology Service, this has been providing training nationally/globally for many years. The training was specific to all clinicians working in the field of diabetes, the training assists new teams to develop technology services. The use of technology in the last 2 years has grown exponentially. The post holder will play a pivotal role in the management/training and development of this area to ensure that patients get the best, appropriate kit for them to improve/enhance their quality of life. They will use the most up to date clinical research/evidence to advance this field of highly specialised care.
