This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Dietitian, or an experienced Band 5 ready to take the next career step and looking to develop their experience and skills within the speciality of diabetes, during a fixed term period to cover a secondment.
(We would also consider applications from Band 5s who have had some NHS experience but wish to consider this as a progressional development pathway from Band 5 to 6).
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work within the established diabetes services at James Cook University Hospital and across Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland community. There may be occasional clinics based at the Friarage Hospital site in Northallerton. The post will give the opportunity to be involved in developing the service alongside other dietetic colleagues and health professionals. Patients will include people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. You will be trained to deliver expert dietary advice in a range of clinics as part of an MDT including at times young adolescent clinics, antenatal clinics, insulin pump clinics and dietitian led clinics. Depending on your previous experience, part of this role may also be to support in the delivery of structured patient education via the DESMOND and DAFNE programmes.

We have been Base Trainers for student dietitians for a number of years, currently taking A, B and C placement students, with the programmes shared across all of our localities.
