Job summary
This post involves working closely within a passionate and skilled Multi-disciplinary Team, consisting of Nursing, Physiotherapy, Psychiatry, Occupational Therapy, Psychology and Speech Therapy colleagues. A commitment to team working is essential and rewarding.
The post holder should be able to demonstrate effective clinical reasoning skills, apply theory to practice and communicate effectively with patients, their families, carers and colleagues alike.
The successful candidate will receive regular supervision and will encouraged to utilise reflective practice. You will require current HCPC registration, post-registration experience is helpful but not essential and we have an excellent preceptorship programme for newly qualified Occupational Therapists. We welcome applications from those about to qualify.
You will be expected to complete assessments, care-plans and deliver a range of intervention within the local community.

This post requires the post holder to be able to undertake all statutory and mandatory training and post holders must be able to undertake physical interventions.

Main duties of the job
- Provide specialist Occupational Therapy to service users with severe / complex needs and learning disabilities.
- Provide evidenced-based Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention to optimise the service users' ability to engage in and maintain meaningful occupations in line with the principles of social inclusion and/or recovery.
- Undertake care co-ordination responsibilities for an allocated number of service users.
- Contribute to training and support for primary and secondary health care professionals, social care providers and families to enable them to better meet the occupational needs of service users.
