Due to the continual development & progression within our highly skilled podiatry department, we are excited to offer an amazing opportunity for Band 5 podiatrists to join our friendly and dynamic team. This is a perfect role for newly qualified podiatrists who would like to start their career with a dynamic and progressive podiatry service.

Our service provides the highest quality of care to our caseload of complex patients. You will be involved in assessment and planning of individual patient care, working independently and being part of our fabulous, dedicated team; therefore we are looking for excellent diagnostic and clinical skills, plus communication and team building skills are essential.

You would be mentored by dedicated professionals who will continually support and develop your skills, to deliver and promote the best care possible to our service users.

Main duties of the job

As a Community Podiatrist within Gloucestershire Podiatry Service, you will be expected to work with the Specialist Community Podiatrist Team providing high quality podiatric care.

You will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing and evaluating podiatric care to patients with a variety of clinical needs.

Within this post you will be expected to develop your clinical skills to become an autonomous independent practitioner. As a Community Podiatrist you will have a basic level of knowledge and skills that are gained through your Professional Degree; your knowledge and skills will be further developed using our rotational programme within variety of clinical settings. This will be complemented with both practical and theoretical knowledge.

  • To provide specialist clinical treatments/advice, including nail surgery, domiciliary visits, basic wound care, basic biomechanical assessments and the provision of chairside insoles etc. (under an agreed period of mentorship).
  • Develop, implement and evaluate care plans in conjunction with service users, carers and other professionals, ensuring individual needs are met.
  • Working with patients who are either at risk or high risk of foot complications or who require specialist podiatry care packages due to chronic diseases/pathologies (e.g. diabetes, connective tissue disorders).
  • With colleagues and service manager, plan, co-ordinate, deliver and evaluate the clinical needs of the service relating to the requirements of the patient and stakeholder. To act as a team member for the department.
  • Maintain accurate records and on the Trust database(s) in line with Trust policies
  • To participate in CPD and other developmental activities.
  • To ensure all relevant clinical governance topics are identified, evaluated and addressed
