Job summary
This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for a highly motivated, innovative and experienced nurse who has a passion for improving complex wounds and leg ulcer management. It is a great development opportunity for someone wishing to step into specialising in this area. The post holder will assess and treat patients with complex leg wounds as well as assessing and supporting in the management of other associated co-morbidities.
In this role working within a team, you will be providing leadership to the Band 3 non registered clinicians working within the clinics, supporting their developmental needs and developing their clinical competence
This is a peripatetic role and requires travel around the county.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will undertake patient assessment and instigate therapeutic treatment based on evidence and national guidelines to improve healing rates and health outcomes. They will work collaboratively with other specialist services to provide holistic patient care and refer on to other services according to agreed treatment pathways.
You will be supported and guided in your role by a Professional Lead who is responsible for developing and shaping this new innovative community based service.
You will liaise closely with health professionals in both primary and secondary care as well as the voluntary sector ensuring patients clinical and social needs are managed effectively and the patients have an improved quality of life.
Education for both other health professionals as well as patient education is a key part of this role with a focus on well legs and ulcer recurrence prevention.
The role will require you to develop and deliver training to other health professionals and participate in clinical audit as well as clinical product evaluations.
You will need some post registration experience and have experience with wounds and the management of leg ulcers as well knowledge on the current wound formulary. The post holder will be expected to provide occasional weekend or bank holiday daytime cover on a rotationalbasis.
