We are recruiting experienced and new to care Healthcare Support Workers in our on ColnWard at Cirencester Hospital. The hospital has49 inpatient beds across two wards. Coln Ward is a 28-bed female rehabilitation and sub-acute medical ward.

You will need a desire to provide compassionate support and care, good communication skills, a flexible approach and enthusiasm to work within our team.

As a Health Care Support Worker, you will work closely with other health care professionals, delivering essential clinical and personal care. You will ensure that our service user needs are met and assist the team in maintaining high standards of care delivery.

Previous experience is desirable but not essential. If you are new to care and hold no experience in healthcare, then we offer a fantastic development opportunity with a structured development plan (including achieving the Care Certificate). You will progress from a pay band 2 to pay band 3 on achievement of the Care Certification.

This post is required to work across all of the following shifts:

Early - 7.15am to 3.15pm

Late - 1.15pm to 9.15pm

Night - 8.45pm to 7.45am

Main duties of the job

Our Healthcare Support Workers form an essential and well-respected part of our Healthcare teams across a number of dynamic settings; out in the community, in our community hospitals or other locations across the county.

With support from other members of team you will be trained to complete a range of tasks dependent on your team these could include:

Under direction, to undertake additional duties when trained and competent as follows:

  • Accurately record patient's vital signs, e.g. temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiratory rate. Recognise and report abnormalities.
  • Promote and maintain patient privacy and dignity.
  • Ensure that patient confidentiality is respected at all times, including verbal and written information.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living including personal care and nutritional and dietary support.
  • Contribute to patient assessments, making sure that any information provided by the patient which is relevant to their care is handed on to the Registered Nurse.
  • Provide support and reassurance to patients and others at times of loss or distress, ensuring that the Registered Nurse in charge is aware of any communication that has taken place.
  • Help to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff, reporting any hazards, which might endanger others to the Nurse in charge and/or where applicable take appropriate action to remove these.
