Job summary

We are seeking to recruit a Band 4 Support Time & Recovery Worker within the Gloucestershire Criminal Justice Liaison & Diversion Service, based at the Montpellier Unit at Wotton Lawn in Gloucester. This is an exciting opportunity to join our long established team covering all areas of the Criminal Justice Services in Gloucestershire.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to support the team and develop the service to meet the Specification laid out by NHS England.

The service runs a 7 day embedded service in Police Custody, as well as to a busy Magistrates Court. The post holder will support prisoners being released into the local community from prisons located in England under the NHS England RECONNECT Strategy.

You will help develop links with other agencies both public sector and independent in ensuring the clients seen receive the best possible service.

You will need to

  • Have experience or knowledge of working with individuals who have been in contact with the criminal justice system
  • Ideally will have experience within Adult Mental Health, Substance Misuse or Alcohol Services, Housing and Benefits Agency
  • Be willing to work within a challenging environment, and work with multiple criminal justice agencies
  • Be part of a team working to improve the experience of service users who may be presenting with health inequalities and vulnerabilities

The candidate will be required to undergo successful police vetting.

Main duties of the job

Support Time & Recovery Workers are a key part of the Liaison and Diversion process.

Their role is to engage with clients and in doing so, build a trusting relationship to improve engagement and to gain an understanding of their health and social care needs.

Your role will involve:

  • Assisting service users to access services to address health vulnerabilities leading improvements in their health and wellbeing.
  • Provide help and advice on housing, drug and alcohol support and education, debt management, employment issues and access to Primary Care.
  • You will manage a caseload of clients, supporting and encouraging their engagement with services.
  • You will develop links with other agencies to enable improved, supported access to services.
  • You will work in a variety of different settings which will include custody suite, court, prisons and other locations in the community.
  • Part of the role will also include supporting individuals leaving prison and assist their integration back into the community.
