Rehabilitation Assistants

Gloucestershire Health and Care (GHC) are looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated individuals across the county who want to work with people in their communities. We can offer you training, development opportunities, regular supervision and support.

Main duties of the job

The Reablement and Home First Team provide vital short-term services to people in their homes to help them regain as much independence as possible after a stay in hospital, an injury or illness.

No previous experience in a paid/unpaid caring role is required. To be successful in this role you should:

  • enjoy working with people;
  • understand what motivates people;
  • be comfortable being involved in practical, sometimes personal and intimate care provision for people;
  • have a desire to learn and develop skills;
  • able to work alone and in a team setting .

If you do have experience of working in a caring role, it will prove very useful and will allow you to progress more rapidly.

About us

GHC has full-time and part-time roles available at various locations across Gloucestershire. Our services run 24/7 and all our Rehabilitation Assistant roles offer core hours of 07.00-22.00. Full-time roles operate on a 4 days on, 4 days off schedule and part-time roles are 2 days on, 6 days off. We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who is available to work between 5pm and 8.30pm. The following shifts are currently highly sought after for the cheltenham locality:

Am - 08.00-13:30 (4 on 4 off)

Mid shift - 09.00 - 2.30pm (4 on 4 off)

Pm - 17.00-22:00 (4 on 4 off)

1 x shift pattern for part time hours or for full time hours either an AM or mid shift combined with a PM shift for 4 days on 4 days off

  • NVQ in a relevant topic (such as healthcare) or other relevant training

  • Experience of working with people, their families and carers who may be going through challenging experiences or difficult situations
  • Experience of working in a health or social care environment providing personal and intimate care to people
  • Practical experience of motivating people encouraging independence
