Are you an experienced & creative Clinical Psychologist, passionate about service innovation & development? We are seeking an enthusiastic & compassionate Clinical Psychologist interested in weight management to lead a brand-new multidisciplinary team of professionals (Consultant Paediatrician, Nurse, Dietician, Family Support Worker) providing whole family support for children & young people (CYP) living with severe and/or complex obesity in Gloucestershire.
This is an exciting opportunity for the post holder to drive innovation throughout CYPS, leading on the development & implementation of an integrated service working alongside Gloucestershire's community weight management provider.
You will demonstrate strong leadership skills, have extensive experience of multiagency working & a proven track record of delivering high quality psychological interventions. Be committed to developing a culture of trauma informed & compassionate thinking, provide leadership & supervision to a dynamic team. You will have experience of working within a physical health/paediatric context & be able to confidently manage the demands that flow through a developing clinical service.
You will take a lead role in ensuring this forward thinking service is psychologically informed, demonstrating competence in consultation, training, supervision & committed to promoting psychological thinking with the team.
Main duties of the job
- Take a lead role in service design bringing together key children's services across the community, health, education & social care to co-develop a weight management offer that fully considers the holistic needs of the CYP/ family.
- Increase the confidence of professionals across the system to support CYP living with obesity in a consistent, compassionate & non-stigmatising way.
- Provide specialist assessment & treatment recommendations for CYP accessing the service. CYP may have diverse, complex health needs & complex trauma presentations.
- Manage referrals, maintain waiting lists, take autonomous management of their own caseload, where necessary, support team members to manage challenging workloads.
- Provide line management support to the Senior Administrator.
- Harness a strong team ethic, developing healthy & collaborative working relationships with & between Consultants, Specialist Nurses, Dietitians, community partners & relevant special interest groups. Working to offer co-delivered and personalised support closer to home, where possible.
- Increase understanding around the scale & complexity of 'need' throughout the clinical & community ; identifying where CYP & their families exist to inform projected demands for 2024/2025 service delivery. Work in consultation with commissioners & other psychological services for children with health needs in the county to produce Business Cases to meet growing needs.
- Use research skills to inform the audit & evaluation of the Service.

- Post Graduate doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology or other relevant Applied Psychology as accredited by the B.P.S and conferring eligibility for HPC Registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
- Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist
- Evidence of formal post graduate learning within a CAMHS setting.
Desirable
- Relevant child focused therapeutic training.
