Job summary

Gloucester Recovery Team is a community mental health team made up of psychiatrists, community mental health nurses, senior (B4) and Band 3 support workers, social workers and occupational therapists; and have physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants sitting within the service. We provide assessment and treatment for patients with significant mental health needs in the Gloucester locality. We work closely with the Complex Psychological Therapies team and clinicians have access to training and opportunities to participate in facilitating emotional skills and Dialectical behavioural therapy group programmes. The service provides a Clozapine and depot clinic and we actively support access to onsite and at home physical health checks and smoking cessation for all our patients in order to mitigate and reduce the known inequalities in health outcomes for many in our client group.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a senior member of the team working with service users under the Recovery Team who have a common and severe mental health need with complexity. The purpose of this role is to:

  • Provide assessment and implementation of evidence-based interventions for service users who are experiencing common, acute mental health and longer-term recovery needs
  • Optimise service users' ability to remain in the community and / or be cared for in the least restrictive environment in line with the principles or recovery, social inclusion and the 10 essential capabilities
  • To facilitate face to face assessments, participate in the provision of a comprehensive triage service,
  • Plan interventions, support and educate service users referred to the service with a range of psychiatric illnesses.
  • To maintain responsibility for a caseload of approximately 25-30 service users with severe and enduring mental illness.

The post holder will:

  • Understand mental health difficulties, how to assess and support patients in implementing collaborative treatment plans towards achieving personal recovery
  • Show compassion and care for others - both who we offer a service to and their carers/supporters and also colleagues, other agencies and
  • Have the ability to work autonomously and at times under pressure and also closely with other professions as part of multidisciplinary working
  • Demonstrate good organisational skills and ability to prioritise clinical tasks in order to meet competing demands
