Job summary

Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust are pleased to be able a suitably qualified MH professional a full time Band 6 opportunity with GHCNHSFT Mental Health Liaison Team. The successful applicant will gain valuable Mental Health Liaison experience within a well respected and successful service.

You will become part of an established team, providing mental health assessment and care within both Gloucester Royal and Cheltenham General Hospitals, working alongside other specialist practitioners and supported by the Consultants for Liaison Psychiatry.

Main duties of the job

  • Offer an assessment service to patients presenting at the emergency departments with a broad range of mental health and psychological problems, and psychiatric illnesses
  • Providing a mental health consultation, liaison and advice service throughout the departments
  • Delivering a range of evidence based psychosocial interventions to individual patients who have predominantly self-harmed
  • Assisting and supporting general hospital colleagues in making decisions about treatment and care in complex situations
  • Providing formal and informal education and clinical supervision to registered and unregistered staff
  • Representing mental health services within the Hospitals Trust.
  • Providing a communication structure between secondary mental health services, primary care and non-statutory services, as a means of ensuring the highest possible standards of patient care

Essential

  • Professional Health or Care Qualification (MHSW, SROT, RMHN, RNLD)
  • oDemonstrate clinical expertise in undertaking Self Harm assessments of adults and young people and/or adults oDemonstrate extensive experience of providing consultation/ training and advice to partner agencies
  • oProven knowledge and experience of providing effective therapeutic evidence based interventions for individuals following episodes of self -harm
  • oComprehensive knowledge of the MHA and Mental Capacity Act

Desirable

  • oRecognised qualification in a specific model of therapy e.g. family therapy, CBT etc.
  • oSignificant proven post qualifying experience of working with adults and young people who may present with both physical and mental health needs.
  • oExperience of working in a general hospital setting

  • Demonstrate experience in developing/providing and evaluating professional development and education to a diverse workforce
  • Demonstrate experience in working and supporting colleagues through the processes of change
