Job summary
We are looking to recruit a Band 7 Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist to join our Children in Care Team (0.8WTE). This discipline is well respected and established within the Children in Care team and the wider Gloucestershire CAMHS service. Within the current children in care team there are two other child psychotherapists and within the wider CAMHS service there are 5 qualified and 2 trainees with a clear supervision structure and who meet regularly.
The children in care team is an MDT with other disciplines such as social workers. This role offers the opportunities for short term assessment and formulation work as well as longer term pieces of clinical work with children and young people.
Currently, the children in care teams, across physical and mental health are integrating. We hope that this will provide greater opportunities for making stronger links between physical and mental health for the children and young people that we work with. The integration will allow more opportunities for system wide thinking, keeping the child as the focus at all times.

Main duties of the job
Provide specialist clinical consultation and advice to professionals working within a range of children's services within Gloucestershire as required. Provide a range of highly specialist CAMHS assessment and treatment interventions for children and young people (0-18yrs) and their families/carers who present with emotional and mental health difficulties as well as those children and young people who have learning disabilities. Provision will be in accordance to the application of a range of profession specific models of clinical practice. There will be a specific focus upon providing specialist clinical assessment, formulation and treatment for those highly vulnerable children and young people who have high clinical risk and other complex/multi agency needs. Demonstrate enhanced competency regarding complex clinical decision making and clinical formulation. Demonstrate clinical competency regarding clinical decisions with complex presentations. Provide CAMHS specialist clinical risk assessments (including Self Harm assessments) and complex risk management planning as part of routine clinical work. This will include leading and actively contributing to multi disciplinary clinical discussions and formulations.

Provide clinical leadership regarding ongoing service improvement initiatives (including implementing learning from continuous improvement cycles) which are in line with the current CAMHS Service Plan or other service priorities. This may include undertaking clinical case reviews, routine audit, evaluating outcome measures and other research methodology. The CAMHS CIC team are in the process of integration with the other CIC Teams within the CYPS Directorate (CiC Nursing and Permanency Adoption Team)
