Job summary

**Development Post**

Gloucestershire Health and Care Trust is pleased to offer a permanent Band 7 or 8a Clinical Psychology role within our Older People's Mental Health Service based at Avon House, Tewkesbury.

The work in the North Locality will involve inputting to the Community Mental Health (CMHT) and Memory Assessment Service (MAS) teams. These teams are well established, friendly and value input from psychology. The role includes specialist therapeutic work with individuals, couples, families and groups as well as neuropsychological assessment and interventions. The post holder will also be involved with indirect work including consultancy, teaching and supervision of colleagues

Main duties of the job

You will be joining a team of psychologists working with older people across Gloucestershire, all embedded within multi-disciplinary teams but working closely together to continuously improve service provision. We are a strong, stable and well-regarded service comprising a Consultant Lead Psychologist and seven Clinical Psychologists. We meet regularly for CPD, clinical and professional supervision and to work on joint service development and training projects.

Clinical Psychologists currently within the service offer formulation-driven therapeutic interventions from a range of models including CAT, Systemic, Compassionate Mind, CBT/Mindfulness and Neuropsychological approaches. We are keen to recruit someone who wishes to positively contribute to the skill mix within our team as well as the wider service.

About us

The post holder will also be encouraged to contribute to research and continue their professional development. There are good opportunities for CPD via internal events, HEE accredited training, the Bath University Clinical Psychology training course and funded individual training in line with agreed individual appraisal objectives.

There are good links with the Clinical Psychology Training Course at Bath University and psychologists in the service input to the Older Adult teaching programme, have trainees on placement and contribute to the selection process.

You will bring a strong interest in working with older people and their families and will be committed to the principles of person-centred and psychologically informed service delivery. You will be able to demonstrate professional and clinical skills directly relevant to the specialism including the use of neuropsychological assessment methods and formulation based interventions. This post would appeal to those who have a 'can do' attitude, and who would relish the opportunity to continue developing the service. The role requires an adaptable, flexible, resilient, hard-working team member who has excellent organisational skills and the ability to use their own initiative.
