Job summary

The Trust is seeking a Speciality Doctor to join the team on one of 4 General Adult acute wards on the Wotton Lawn Hospital site in Gloucester.

Wotton Lawn Hospital in Gloucester has 66 acute beds and a 10-bedded intensive care unit. Priory Ward is a 18 bed acute admissions ward offering assessment and treatment for patients from across Gloucestershire, mainly those in Cheltenham and the North Cotswolds. Admissions are organised through the Cheltenham crisis team and these teams work very closely together. Two days of your working week will involve working with the Cheltenham crisis team.

Main duties of the job

When working on Priory Ward you will work along side the Consultant / Responsible Clinician for your inpatients. You will be expected to provide senior review of the inpatients, making autonomous management decisions under Consultant supervision. You will also provide support to Consultant led ward rounds. You will be expected to participate in Mental Health Act work including report writing and attendance at Mental Health Act Managers' Meetings and Review Tribunals, with support from the consultant.

When working in the Cheltenham Crisis Team you will work as part of an experienced MDT and will provide psychiatric assessment and develop initial management plans for patients newly taken on by the team, as well as follow up reviews. Consultant advice and supervision will be available from the Team's Consultant Psychiatrist.

Experience

Essential

  • Basic Medical Qualification GMC registered. Advanced Trainees within 6 months of their CCT date at the time of interview. Approved Clinician/S12 approval or eligibility for approval.

Desirable

  • MRCPsych Training or experience in Forensic, inpatients, crisis, AOT and/or substance misuse psychiatry. Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management Use of relevant tools, e.g. HCR20, HONOS
