Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated therapist to join The Adult Speech and Language Therapy team in Gloucestershire as a band 6 specialist Speech & Language Therapist.
Main duties of the job
You will be required to work as part of a team to provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment to adults with complex communication and swallowing difficulties following an acute Stroke.
You will work as part of a friendly multi-disciplinary team covering both the hyper acute and acute stroke units based at Cheltenham General Hospital. You will be designing and delivering therapy programmes for individuals with a variety of acquired communication and swallowing disorders.
Sessions are also available within our community and brain injury teams, please refer to separate adverts for these roles. These sessions can be additionally applied for and combined with this Stroke post.

You will also be joining a friendly, innovative and supportive wider team of colleagues delivering Speech and Language Therapy services to the population of Gloucestershire. Please see the attached 'About Us' document for more information about the team and our service. The Speech & Language Therapy team are proactive in ongoing service development initiatives. We are well respected within the Trust and by members of the wider multi-disciplinary teams.
The Speech & Language Therapy service offers regular clinical and line management supervision, along with peer support sessions. We have a strong ethos for continuing professional development and a range of both in-house and external training is available.

- Special interest in current evidence-based practice relating to post stroke communication and/or swallowing difficulties
- Experience in managing patients with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties post stroke
