Job summary

We are seeking to recruit a Band 6 practitioner to work within the Gloucestershire Criminal Justice Liaison & Diversion Service, based at the Montpellier Unit at Wotton Lawn in Gloucester. This is an exciting opportunity to join our long established team covering all areas of the Criminal Justice Services in Gloucestershire.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to support the team and develop the service to meet the Specification laid out by NHS England.

The service runs a 7 day embedded service in Police Custody, as well as to a busy Magistrates Court. We are also in the process of developing a service for those individuals attending for police voluntary interviews.

You will help develop links with other agencies both public sector and independent in ensuring the clients seen receive the best possible service.

Hours per week - 37.5

Closing date: 31.05.2022

The preferred candidate will have to successfully undertake police vetting at NPPV Level 2.

Main duties of the job

You will need to

- Have a Professional Registration in Nursing, Social Work or Occupational Therapy

- Work weekends and out of hours as required

- Have experience working with individuals who have been in contact with the criminal justice system

- Have experience in Children's Mental Health Services, Adult Mental Health, Substance Misuse or Alcohol Services

- Have a strong desire to support us to develop this service in a rapidly changing climate

- Have an interest in recovery principles and techniques in a context of best practice

- Be willing to work within a challenging environment, and work with multiple criminal justice agencies

- Be able to engage in audit and evaluation.

- Be part of a team wishing to always improve the user experience of mental health services

There is a particular requirement to ensure that the team is able to provide services to all ages including children.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Professional Registration in Nursing, Social Work, or Occupational Therapy (Registered with NMC or HCPC)
  • Evidence of formal post registration learning Formal teaching and assessing course

LENGTH AND / OR NATURE OF EXPERIENCE

Desirable

  • Demonstrable post qualification experience in mental health or related area
  • Experience of working within community setting
  • Extensive experience of first line assessments including the assessment of risk
  • Working knowledge of recovering approach and social inclusion
  • Experience of collaboration working with other agencies including the voluntary sector
  • Experience of providing short term evidence-based interventions e.g. CBT, Brief solution focussed therapy.
