We are looking for applicants who are suitably qualified and experienced to join us as a Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, who upon successful completing of their course will graduate to a substantive PWP role. You will work in our clinical service, whilst undertaking a taught Certificate in Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy delivered by Exeter University. You will develop skills and knowledge that enables you to offer evidenced based psychological interventions to people who experience common mental health problems, whilst working in a supportive environment that offers high quality supervision in both individual and group-based settings. Our strong emphasis on workforce wellbeing will mean you are working in a team that seeks to create a collaborative and compassionate culture focused on delivering an efficient and effective service for the people of Gloucestershire.

Main duties of the job

Your main responsibilities will include, attending taught days delivered by Exeter university (this will consist of part remote and part attendance at a venue in Bristol TBC plus office-based working)) and meeting the academic expectations and course requirements stipulated by Exeter University. Delivering low intensity psychological interventions to a caseload of patients encountering common mental health problems, facilitating psychoeducational courses, undertaking initial assessments as well as receiving caseload and clinical skills supervision. You will also work closely with GP's and staff in Primary Care to improve access and develop resources aimed at promoting mental health and emotional wellbeing.

About us

The Gloucestershire Mental Health Intermediate Care Service is a County wide Service that incorporates the IAPT service and the Primary Care mental health nursing team. It is made up of 4 clinical teams situated across Gloucestershire, with a number of satellite bases. We employ over 100 IAPT therapists and are passionate about improving access to psychological therapies. We pride ourselves on our clinical model that focuses on delivering high quality care that consistently exceeds the IAPT recovery standard.

Each IAPT team includes a Clinical lead, Team manager, Psychological Therapists, Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, working alongside Primary Care Mental Health nurses. We also train significant numbers of trainee therapists.

Our Service provides evidenced based psychological interventions using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and other IAPT approved therapies. We deliver treatment over the telephone, in groups via webinars, face to face, online video and using computerised therapy options as part of a stepped care model.
