Job summary

Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust have are looking for an enthusiastic sports and exercise science graduate who is keen to further their skills within the specialist field of mental health.

The post holder will work in our inpatient mental health hospital for working age adults as part of a team of Physiotherapists, Health and Exercise Practitioners and Therapy Assistants.

The post holder will hold an appropriate caseload, undertake evidence based assessment, planning and implementation of physiotherapy and health and exercise based interventions. You will further develop knowledge and awareness of how exercise and its' associated effects can be used in the treatment of those suffering from severe and enduring mental illness. You will assess patients risk of malnutrition and provide essential treatment plans. You will also assess patients for Cardiovascular Disease risk factors and provide effective interventions, such as physical activity, education and healthy cooking.

Knowledge of a variety of general physical health conditions and their effects on the individuals capacity to participate in therapy is essential. The ability to adapt and transfer this physical health knowledge into the field of mental health is required.

Main duties of the job
