**1 x year Fixed Term contract/secondment opportunity for up to 12 months**

Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Trust is looking to recruit an experienced Assistant Psychologist to work within the specialist service of low secure rehabilitation at Montpellier Unit, Gloucester. This is a fixed term 12-month contract t over maternity leave.

Montpellier provides rehabilitation to 12 men within a low secure environment. The core aspect of the service is to provide assessment and treatment to those who present with mental disorder and pose a risk of harm to others, with an aim to facilitate safe transfer into the community.

The Montpellier team is multi-disciplinary and there is an expectation that the Assistant Psychologist will be a fully active and integrated member of the team. The successful candidate will be expected to undertake routine assessments and interventions (both individual and group), continue to routinely administer outcomes for psychological and psychosocial interventions as well as wider outcomes for the unit in accordance with College Centre for Quality Improvements (CCQI). The Assistant will work closely with and under the supervision of the Consultant Clinical Psychologist.

Main duties of the job

Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust provides joined-up mental health, physical health and learning disability services to people of all ages across Gloucestershire.

Montpellier unit is cited alongside Wotton Lawn Hospital which has four acute wards and a psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU). There are an additional three clinical psychologists an art psychotherapist and an apprentice clinical associate psychologist (CAP) working within these wards and together the psychologists and art psychotherapist form a small inpatient department. The Assistant Psychologist will become part of this department. In the wider community, psychologists, psychotherapists and art psychotherapists working within Recovery, Assertive Outreach and Early Intervention Teams form complex psychological interventions (CPI). Hence, there will be opportunity to gain experience from these professionals and have access to CPD.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Min 2(i) honours degree in Psychology
  • Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS)
  • Evidence of training/CPD to develop knowledge and theory relevant to work in the specialism

Length and Nature of Experience

Essential

  • oAbility to communicate effectively, orally and in writing clinically sensitive information to service users, their families, carers and other professional colleagues, both within and outside the NHS.
  • oPrior experience with the service user group and experience in a clinical setting

Desirable

  • oSome experience of using /manipulating Psychological test equipment for use in formal testing situations
  • Additional knowledge/ experience of research methodology
  • Experience of working within inpatient areas or where there are restrictions on freedom in place
