Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to lead the Stroke Speech and Language Therapy team at SASH. The role involves managing communication and swallowing disorders for patients across a 36 bedded stroke unit. The Speech and Language Therapy service work as established members of the MDT within the stroke team at SASH and this role will involved supervision and line management of junior staff within the SLT team, as well as responsibility for monitoring and improving compliance with national stroke standards and SSNAP audit scores.
The Speech and Language service at SASH provides adult and paediatric services, including outpatient dysphagia and voice clinics. The team regularly contribute to MDT training across the hospital, as well as having a robust internal CPD training programme. The SLT team run regular videofluorocopy clinics and have an established FEES service, which the post holder would have the opportunity to be involved with, and develop skills in. The stroke service provide group as well as 1:1 communication therapy and are currently participating in the PhEAST research study.
