Job summary

East Surrey Hospital Therapy Department is a friendly, forward thinking and innovative department with a well- established Clinical Governance programme and a focus on developing staff.

We are looking for a Band 3 Rehabilitation Assistant to join the medical inpatient therapy team of qualified Physiotherapists to provide a service to the medical wards.

You will be required to treat patients on the Medical wards according to set treatment protocols, monitoring progression and make minor alterations as required, giving support and guidance to patient's relatives and carers and liaising with other members of the MDT.

The majority of your time will be spent working with patients and assisting the Therapists to maximise patients' independence implementing and progressing treatment programmes to ensure their safe discharge from hospital.

At times you will work unsupervised reporting back patients progress and informing the physiotherapist of any problems or concerns.

The role involves a wide range of support and administrative tasks in addition to patient focused time.

Good communication and people skills are essential.

You will be involved in our on-going in-service training programme, receive supervision, yearly personal review and be supported in your professional development.

Main duties of the job

An understanding of the role of Physiotherapy and previous experience working as a Band 2 Therapy assistant is desirable.
