Consultant in Emergency Medicine

We are excited to be recruiting a substantive Consultant Emergency Medicine at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (SASH) based at East Surrey Hospital to join our established team of 13 Consultants.

Our department is one of the busiest in the South of England with over 110,000 attendances per year and nearly 100 ambulances conveyed a day serving a population of around 750,000. The department has undergone significant refurbishment over the last 5 years and includes 31 majors cubicles, a 5 bedded resus, dedicated CT scanner and a distinct but co-located paediatric emergency department. In addition, in December 2022 we opened a new walk-in rapid assessment and see and treat area which is protected to manage our walk in patients and improve streaming and redirection

The Trust is CQC rated 'Outstanding' and rated highly as a place to work in the NHS Staff survey and in 2021 were awarded HSJ Acute Trust of the year. We are a values-based organisation with a strong improvement culture enabled by a well- resourced Kaizen promotion office who have been supporting our continuous improvement culture for over 5 years. We have active value streams focusing on ambulance handover, initial assessment and streaming and redirection.
