Job summary
We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic person to join the phlebotomy team at East Surrey Hospital. The successful candidates will work as part of a team collecting blood samples from both In and Out patients.
You will be expected to have good communication skills and have a caring and compassionate nature. A nursing or similar healthcare / carer background would be an advantage.Experience is preferable but not essential as full training will be given to the right candidate.
Main Duties are;
To assist in the provision of an effective phlebotomy service with other members of the phlebotomy team
To take blood samples by venepuncture or capillary, using the standard techniques approved by the Pathology Department
To assist in the provision of phlebotomy training and mentoring as and when requested.
The working hours will be 20 hrs per week, Monday to Friday 8.00am - 12.00pm which are non-negotiable. As the workload fluctuates on a daily basis the successful candidate must be flexible.
The post will also include a commitment to 1 Saturday in 4 - 08.00 to 12.00.You may also be required to work at Crawley Hospital on an as and when basis.
The period of initial training or assessment of skills will take place at Crawley Hospital.
