Job summary

The Fire Safety Department is part of the Estates & Facilities Directorate. The department provides advice, support and training on safety and fire issues to all levels of management throughout the Trust to assist them in meeting their legal responsibilities for the safety of staff, patients, contractors and visitors.

The purpose of this post is to offer advice and educate those responsible for fire safety across the Trust. The post holder will also undertake fire risk assessments and fire safety audits of simple and complex premises across the Trusts estate portfolio. This may entail flexibility in working patterns to meet operational needs.

The post holder will be responsible for advice on all areas of fire risk management and systems to staff, contractors and visitors across its estate to support patient safety and continuity of care.

To undertake periodic reviews and maintenance of departmental fire safety information manuals to support the Trusts fire risk management system. The post holder will also curate and deliver fire safety learning and development to support core staff skills using face to face and online platforms.

The Business Fire Safety Advisor will be:

  • Assessing risks and hazards associated with fire,
  • evaluating measures to protect people and premises,
  • influencing, and supporting Trust managers and teams to act on recommendations and where appropriate reporting on non-compliance to the Fire Safety Advisor.

  • Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response
  • Health and Safety team
Rules to noted for funding purposes :
  • Must have the right to work in England
  • must have eligible residency status & have lived within the European Economic Area for at least the least three years
  • must have no restrictions on access to apprenticeship funding
  • must notbe in receipt of any other direct Department for Education funding

candidates need an approved level 2 English and Maths qualification (e.g. GCSE grade A*-C or 9-4, functional skills level 2)

Note:

The successful candidate will be required to attend and successfully complete the following courses: Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety, Level 3 certificate in passive fire safety, Level 3 award in Education and Training and PAS79 Fire risk assessor. Some of the courses will require the successful candidate to attend residential courses."
