Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Trust as Divisional Director of Operations for our Medicine Division. Reporting to the Chief of Service and accountable to the Chief Operating Officer, the Divisional Director of Operations will be responsible for the operational management of our Medicine division ensuring medical and ambulatory pathways meet national standards and that we improve patient flow from arrival to discharge in our Emergency Department. In addition, they will play a key role in ensuring the Trust delivers on the full range of performance and finance targets and will lead the delivery of agreed performance indicators in relation to clinical outcomes and operational efficiency.

As a direct report, this post will deputise for the Chief of Service and the Chief Operating Officer, providing direction and leadership to operational teams across our four operational divisions. This includes daily flow management to trust wide industrial action response and winter planning across the trust. There will be a strong emphasis on the need to embed staff appraisal and development of a culture of performance management and delivery, as a foundation for achieving our organisational objectives.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to speak with motivated, compassionate, and resilient leaders with extensive leadership experience in an acute healthcare provider setting. You will have an excellent track record of delivery at a senior operational level plus evidence of success in strategic level projects or work streams. You will be confident and comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels and be expected to establish and maintain relationships which enable the Trust to operate effectively with clinicians, managers and partners focused on improving outcomes and services to patients.
