Job summary
Junior Clinical Fellow in Paediatrics
You will work an 18 person, full shift rota, with duties consisting of short days, long days, evening shifts 1-10pm and Nights. There are 3 clinical areas Outwood ward, neonatal unit and Child Assessment Unit (CAU including the emergency department), each with separate Long day Registrars, Long day SHO's, short day SHOs and an attending Consultant of the Week. The CAU staff also cover Paeds A&E e.g. resus calls and work closely with the A&E team of doctors and nurses. The NICU staff also cover the postnatal ward.
The SHO rota is such that you work 8 week blocks on either General Paediatrics or Neonates with long days and nights concentrated on each side for the duration. Day shifts are more mixed with SHO's covering CAU, extra ward cover, postnatal ward, and attending newborn deliveries. We have this flexibility to allow cross cover for Annual Leave and Study leave for a colleague. On day shifts there is opportunity to attend outpatient clinic as an observer and to undertake SHO led Prolonged Jaundice clinics. You will work 1 in 3 weekends.
All clinical areas are well supported at middle grade and consultant level.
We aim to have the successful candidate starting at the beginning of September and this is a an 8 month fixed term contract until April 2024.
