Job summary

We are looking for pharmacists ready to start their career as a clinical hospital pharmacist following their hospital/ community training year or an experienced community pharmacist looking to move to a more clinical role in an acute hospital setting. For established Band 6 Pharmacists ready to progress to the next level we have our Band 7-Ready programme.

The Surrey and Sussex Healthcare Trust Pharmacy department has more than 100 staff including 40 Pharmacists,15 of whom are Band 6. Each clinical specialty has a Lead Pharmacist that supports the Band 6 Pharmacist through the bespoke rotation workbook and specific objectives. The rotation mini-team is led by a Band 7 pharmacist which is comprised of Band 6 Pharmacists, MMTs and Pharmacy Assistants. The rotations include: acute, cardiology, endocrine, elderly, surgery, MI, respiratory and WaCH.

We are a friendly and progressive department with a strong emphasis on training and development including for those moving from primary to secondary care. All staff have regular reviews with their line manager and a chance to voice their opinion through our LFG forum. The Trust itself is an Associated University Teaching Hospital, linked to Brighton and Sussex Medical Schools.

The successful applicants will be GPhC-registered pharmacists or those currently undertaking their training year intending to sit the June GPhC assessment.
