Job summary

At Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust we pride ourselves on giving outstanding quality care to our older people.

We are really excited to be expanding out orthogeriatric team with the addition of this post. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed consultant to join our team of 12 geriatricians to expand our service.

This post will be based mostly with the orthogeriatric service and will work with the team to expand the service from the current patients with neck of femur fractures.

In addition the post will be able to work in our innovative Pendleton frailty day unit running an outpatient rapid access CGA clinic there. We are the team behind the MDTea podcasts and were one of the trusts partnered with the Virgina Mason hospital in Seattle and have incorporated quality improvement at the heart of our teams with SaSH+.

Main duties of the job

To provide an orthogeriatric service of the highest quality, ensuring that standards are maintained and developed through clinical audit, evidence based research, job planning and appraisal and to work flexibly with colleagues to achieve the hospitals business strategy.

We provide emergency and non-emergency services to the residents of East Surrey, North-East West Sussex, and South Croydon, including the major towns of Crawley, Horsham, Reigate and Redhill; a community of over 535,000 people. We provide acute and complex services and a range of outpatient, diagnostic services whilst Crawley Hospital and Horsham in West Sussex and Caterham Dene Hospital and Oxted Health Centre in Surrey provide less complex planned services.   • MRCP Qualification or equivalent
  • A minimum of 6 months experience working in an orthogeriatric unit (per or post CCT).
  • Understand the principles of quality improvement and audit
  • Specialist knowledge of orthogeriatric care
  • Evidence of experience in leadership of junior teams working across departments
