Trust Doctor in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
This post is for one-year renewable commencing as soon as possible, to support the team in obstetrics and gynaecology, with a focus on ambulatory & high-risk obstetrics or ambulatory gynaecology & early pregnancy/acute gynaecology. This, suitable for candidates who have recently gained their CCT or in a similar position, and to build on experience towards becoming a consultant. And non-training post but will provide valuable experience in maternal-fetal medicine high risk obstetrics, advanced labour ward management and Urogynaecology for those wishing to secure future posts, including at consultant level for applicants who already hold CCT. Within this post there is an emphasis on developing a special interest, contribute to the updating of departmental policies and guidelines. These posts are aimed at UK or Overseas trainee obstetricians at ST 5+ level or above. There will be an out of hours component to the job as a senior registrar on delivery suite and covering gynaecology emergencies. There will also be opportunities to undertake ATSMs.The post holder will participate in the middle grade, out of hours' on-call rota of 1:13, working weekends and weekdays and contribute to theatre and clinic backfill for consultant leave where appropriate. You will be allocated an Educational Supervisor (ES) to mentor and guide you in this post.
Main duties of the job
Permanent Appointment Start Date as soon as possible.The appointee will participate in the rota shared by ST1-2/ FY2. It will involve gaining experience in general obstetrics such as labour ward management, Antenatal clinics and Gynaecological outpatient department. The operating experience can be gained at major theatre list at ESH and Day case list at Crawley Hospital. This appointment is suitable for candidates who wish to develop on their existing skills in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology as well as develop new skills and management in various aspects such as obstetric scanning, fertility, Urogynaecology, Early pregnancy problems, Out Patient Hysterocopy, colposcopy etc. The post offers the opportunity to develop surgical skills, alongside exposure to specialist clinics and theatre lists. On-call commitment: Participating in the junior grade out of hours on-call rota including 1 in 10 weekend night (Fri/Sat/Sun) and one in 10 weekend days. There will be on call for obstetrics and on call for gynaecology working from 08:00-20:30 during weekdays. On weekends, the obstetric cover is from 08:00-20:30 and gynaecology cover is from 08:00-17:30. EDUCATION: Regular tutorials and postgraduate meetings are held. There is daily CTG and CS review meetings held at handover time.
