Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust

Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and innovative part time GP to work in our new abdomino-pelvic Rapid Investigation Service (RIS) at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. This service will run from both Redhill and Crawley sites, with a primary base of Crawley Hospital.
RIS is a new service that has been designed to deal with patients who simply do not fit a set of obvious symptoms criteria. The ones that you encounter where your "gut feeling tells there is something wrong, but you can't put your fingers on it".
These are the type of patients that service aims to capture. These are also the patient who due to the non-specificity of their symptoms end up having to access emergency services multiple times or are referred to several acute specialties before a diagnosis is made, which unfortunately can result in late stage diagnosis.
The GP will work with a Rapid Investigation Service Clinical Nurse Specialist and a hospital consultant to support the service by triaging, sign posting referrals to the appropriate diagnostic tests and where necessary divert referrals into the appropriate Cancer MDT meetings for an opinion or full management of those patients.
Applicants will be qualified GP's preferably with acute medical experience and a desire for innovation.
Funding for this service is guaranteed for one year. Financial planning is currently underway which will confirm funding for further 12 months.
