Deputy Service Manager for CYPS Neurodevelopmental Service – Mindworks

The Mindworks Neurodevelopmental (ND) Service is seeking a dynamic and values-driven Senior Clinician to provide clinical oversight and leadership in the absence of the Service Manager, ensuring the highest standards of care are delivered in line with the most up-to-date evidence-based guidelines.

About the Role

As a senior member of the team, you will:

  • Provide clinical oversight to ensure excellent, safe, and effective care for children and young people (CYP).

  • Lead on complex and clinically challenging cases, offering expert guidance and decision-making.

  • Support, mentor, and develop colleagues, fostering a culture of learning, reflection, and continuous improvement.

  • Work collaboratively with the Service Manager and the wider Mindworks Alliance to deliver an exemplary service aligned with our vision and values.

  • Actively contribute to service improvement, innovation, and development initiatives.

  • Deliver education and promote awareness to challenge stigma and enhance understanding of neurodevelopmental needs.

  • Build strong, supportive relationships with Surrey Emotional Wellbeing Services, Mindworks colleagues, and partner agencies.

  • Ensure the voice and lived experience of children and young people remains central to all decision-making.

Main duties of the job

  • To work collaboratively with the Service Manager and multi-disciplinary team to develop outstanding services.
  • To coordinate assessment clinics and respond to more urgent matters arising for CYPS ND delivering neurodevelopmental assessments.
  • To provide line management and clinical supervision where appropriate.
  • To provide advice and consultation to colleagues.
  • To demonstrate expertise in analysing and reflecting upon their own clinical practice and that of others in all aspects of care giving to young people and their families/carers.
  • To support the Service Manager in developing sustainable and improving services in line with national specifications, local implementation requirements and a set financial envelope.
  • To promote and introduce systems to continuously improve quality of care, drawing on national and trust guidance, in particular CQC
  • To ensure compliance with all statutory, financial, health & safety, employment, safeguarding requirements, including statutory and mandatory training
  • To ensure the trusts supervision policy is adhered to and supervisor, appraisal and personal/team development are intrinsic and considered in all business developments
  • To maintain a small clinical caseload of complex children and young people
  • To deputise for the Service Manager as required - if SM is on leave another locality SM will cover managerially with the support of the Deputy Manager.

You will have a clinical qualification at Degree level or above in Mental Health Nursing, Social Work or Occupational Therapy with HCPC registration and evidence of transferable mental health skills and practice.

Professional knowledge acquired through degree supplemented by diploma level specialist training, experience, and short courses in the areas of child development, attachment or family functioning is essential.

Registration with NMC/HCPC is essential.

Experience

Sound experience of working with CYP with a variety of mental health and/or neurodiversity needs for at least 5 years
