Job summary
Mind Matters NHS Talking Therapies are looking to recruit a number of full time Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners on a fixed term 1 year contract. The NHS Talking Therapies specific training involves in person training at Reading University with the remainder of your time spent at Mind Matters Base (Unither House, Chertsey).You will be required to work one late shift per week until 8pm.
In addition to attending Reading University for training, you will be learning all about Mind Matters, assisting with administrative duties & as your training progresses you will move on to assess & treat those using Mind Matters for mild to moderate presentations of Anxiety & Depression. You will be trained to deliver high volume, low intensity cognitive behavioural therapy guided self-help interventions and gain the opportunity to offer Interventions by telephone, Microsoft Teams or in person, & group settings.

You would be upgraded to a band 5 position as a PWP after receipt of written confirmation of course completion from training provider and consequently application for professional registration.
Main duties of the job
A key part of your role will be undertaking assessments with people with common mental health difficulties, identifying goals and undertaking risk assessments. You will identify treatment plans with your supervisor, communicate plans to your clients and navigate our clinical IT system, sending relevant GP and client letters. You will provide treatment to people struggling with common mental health difficulties. This will involve providing a range of evidence based low-intensity psychological treatments. It will include providing 1:1 guided self-help, delivering computerised CBT and assisting/running psychoeducational groups for clients. You will be responsible for signposting and onwards referrals in collaboration with your supervisor for any inappropriate referrals. You will need to adhere to an agreed amount of client contacts offered per week. You will keep records of clinical activity and use such records, as well as clinical outcomes, to make decisions with your supervisor.
You will need to attend and fulfil all the requirements of the trainee PWP course, including practical and academic university assessments. You will need to be compliant with all the mandatory NHS training. You will need to prepare and present clinical information to your case management supervisor to ensure safe practice and implement any suggestions from supervision. You will be required to engage in clinical skills supervision in order to improve your competencies and clinical practice.

Mind Matters Surrey IAPT has been operational since 2013 and is part of the Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Trust. We are a fast growing, primary care mental health service offering high quality evidence based psychological therapies for people with common mental health problems.
Mind Matters Surrey IAPT services provides Talking Therapies treatments between 8.00am - 8.00pm Monday to Thursday, and 9am-5pm Friday and Saturday. There is a requirement to work a minimum of 1 late shift per week until 8pm.
