We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Specialty Doctor (1.0 WTE), Victoria Ward, Inpatient Services for Older Adults.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team where we are continuously embracing new ways of working whilst putting people who uses our services at forefront. Inpatient Services isa multi-disciplinary team comprising a Consultant Psychiatrist, resident doctors in training, & staff from different professional backgrounds, including administrative support. The team has an excellent reputation for supporting doctors in training.
The team is dedicated to quality improvement and outcomes. We actively and strongly support involvement in QIP, audit, aswell as research and development projects.
The Directorate offers a supportive and encouraging environment in which to progress professionally with opportunities to develop areas of interest.
All work of the Specialty Doctor will be under supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist within the team.
Main duties of the job
The Specialty Doctor will be expected to show an interest in developing a wide range of psychiatric skills, including multi-professional work, maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of psychotropic medication & competencies in physical health & dementia.
Assessment, diagnosis, formulation, & review of management plans for service users. Flexibly review & reassess service users to evaluate their response to treatment & their readiness to access other parts of the Care Pathway. To instigate and support the discharge planning of service users in a timely manner.
Assess referrals and undertake mental state examinations of service users.

Essential
- MB BS or equivalent recognised medical qualification
- Full medical registration with a license to practice
- Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act (or within 6 to 12 months of the time of interview/assessment) or equivalent
- Fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice at the time of appointment.
Desirable
- Relevant higher degree, e.g. MD, PhD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications
- MRCPsych or equivalent
- Management qualification or evidence of an interest in developing leadership skills
Eligibility
