Job summary

Are you an existing oraspiring Senior HIT (Counselling) Therapist, looking to broaden your Leadership & Management experience, within a Talking Therapies service? Surrey Talking Therapies (provided by SABP, one of 5 x providers in the County) are looking to strengthen our Senior Management Team.

You will join a large (100+) team of trainee & qualified & Clinical/Counselling, Psychology/Psychotherapy Therapist, serving a diverse population of 1.2m, taking a management lead role on quality/service development initiatives focusingon improving Access to psychological therapies, by reducing health inequalities and unnecessary waiting times, improve our Reliable Improvement/Recovery rates (to ensure the best possible outcomes) as well as the overall patient experience.

Candidates should have a highly-developed knowledge of NHS Talking Therapies provision, considerable experience working as a therapist in such service, and a sound understanding of national/local demands and targets. Clinical Supervision is provided by our Consultant/Deputy Clinical Lead and Line Management Supervision from our Business Manager/Operational Lead, based at one of our 4 x locality offices and offered flexible working arrangements.

Main duties of the job

Provide a qualified specialist psychological assessment & therapy service for anxiety and depression to clients, within one or more psychological therapy models specified by the NHS Talking Therapies for anxiety and depression Manual.

Providing expert advice & guidance to psychological therapists and other professionals. Supervision of other colleagues including trainee High Intensity Therapists and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, as well as trainees. Provide risk duty cover to include, screening, urgent risk advice, discussion with referrers about suitability, review & manage incidents (DCIQ) and represent the service at locality/place-based pathway forums.

Responsible for monitoring through monthly audits of (individual & team) reliable improvement/recovery rates, taking steps to correct data quality issues. Working with Admin, Step and Pathway Leads to identify and implement quality and service improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes & the patient experience. Organise and deliver training where outcome measures fall below national targets.

Qualifications

Essential

  • A minimum two-year post-graduate (or equivalent) qualification in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, Psychotherapy, Counselling, or Counselling Psychology, comprising no less than 450 hours programme contact AND no less than 450 hours supervised counselling or psychotherapy practice (including hours gained after core training)
  • Evidence of successful completion of training in the NICE-recommended time limited psychological therapy for depression, Counselling for Depression (CfD)
  • Evidence of further significant training and recognised clinical supervision plus experience (to master's or equivalent level) leading to a high degree of expertise and knowledge of specialist therapeutic procedures in the specific specialist field within NHS Talking Therapies.
  • Evidence of post qualification training in CfD clinical supervision. Or be in a position to attend the CfD top-up training for those that already have a qualification in supervision.
  • One or more NHS Talking Therapies specified counselling or psychotherapy accreditations (as detailed in the NHS Talking Therapies Manual): British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited; United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered as a Psychotherapist or Psychotherapeutic Counsellor; Association of Christian Counsellors Accreditation; National Counselling Society Accredited Professional registrants, British Psychoanalytic Council Registered
