Main duties of the job

To provide medical input into our School Based Needs MDT and safety huddle/clinical risk management processes to enable more robust formulation and risk management within the service.

To support the initiation of medication for Children & Young People (CYP) who are engaging in treatment with SBN clinicians to enable this work to continue and avoid unnecessary referrals into CT teams.

To provide case consultation to SBN professionals to reduce unnecessary referrals into CT/specialist services and thus continuity of care for CYP and families, as well as ensure clinicians can provide risk support to schools and CYP.

To work together with the SBN teams to develop and roll out a new and innovative holistic integrated ADHD early intervention pathway, by providing medical prescription alongside school focussed interventions, as well as interface with local GPs, with the aim of supporting these YP to become settled in the school environment and then discharged under shared care to the GP.

  • MB BS or equivalent recognised medical qualification.
  • Full medical registration with a license to practice.
  • Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act(or within 6 to 12 months of the time of interview/assessment) or equivalent

Desirable

  • Relevant higher degree, e.g. MD, PhD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications
  • MRCPsych or equivalent
  • Management qualification or evidence of an interest in developing leadership skills.

  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months
