Job summary

Do you have an interest in working in the field of Forensics and developing your skills within the community setting, if so this is the ideal opportunity for you.

The FOLS team has a robust multi-disciplinary team providing a unique opportunity for someone who has a particular interest in this field however, may not yet have the specialist experience. The service includes senior forensic nurse practitioners, forensic psychology, forensic psychiatry, a forensic learning disability & autism psychologist, speech and language therapist and community support workers.

The service is multifaceted providing the opportunity to learn specialist forensic assessments such as the HCR-20 and RSVP. You will be responsible for care-coordination of a small caseload which provides the space and time to provide a recovery focused and good knowledge of the people you will be offering care and support to.

The successful candidate will provide specialist assessment and treatment for people with mental disorder, who have offended or are at risk of offending. The post holder will have a key role in the care-coordination of patients within the community setting as well as Forensic assessment for patients in the community and in-patient settings

Main duties of the job

Band 5

  • Responsibility of care-coordinating a caseload of patients within the community setting
  • Ensuring patients' needs are considered through a bio-psychosocial approach
  • Work effectively with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure safe and effective care and treatment is provided
  • Promote recovery by actively supporting and facilitating independence and social inclusion
  • Ongoing management and monitoring of risk
  • Administration of prescribed medication in the community setting

Band 6 (in addition to the above responsibilities of the band 5)

  • Attend MAPPA level 1&2 meetings as a core panel member
  • Provide supervision to Community Support Workers
  • Complete level one Forensic assessments autonomously
  • Participate in providing educational training within the team and other agencies and teams in relation to Forensic Mental Health
  • Link worker role to support community and in-patient teams within the organisation.
