This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised clinician to join our new needs led neurodevelopmental team. This position would be ideal for someone who needs to work a combination of remotely and some clinical face to face days at the clinic and has a passion for supporting young people with neurodevelopmental needs.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a clinician who can help lead a team to clinically screen referrals coming into our autism and ADHD assessment pathway whilst working closely with our early intervention team supporting the needs of young people referred to our service.
The clinician can also work towards (if not trained already) undertaking ADHD or Autism diagnostic assessments.

Job responsibilities
The post holder
will predominantly be responsible for supporting young people and families who
access the neurodevelopmental service. This role will involve managing duty
telephone calls, managing referrals into the service and assisting in the
assessment of children and young people pursuing a neurodevelopmental diagnostic
assessment. The post holder
will also have opportunities to develop and facilitate intervention groups directly
with children and young people or if a nurse, train to be a nurse prescriber
for the service.
Qualifications required
- Registered Clinical
Practitioner (e.g. Nurse, OT, Psychologist, Social Worker, SALT)
- Post graduate
diploma level specialist training in relevant field is desirable
- Experience required
- Previous experience of working with children
and young people with neurodevelopmental, behavioural, and/or emotional
wellbeing and mental health difficulties.
- This role would be suitable for someone who is passionate about improving the lives of children, young people
and their families by providing respectful, high quality, and person-centred
care.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the
triaging of referrals for children and young people pursuing a diagnostic
assessment for ASC and/or ADHD, often in the context of other suspected or
diagnosed neurodevelopmental conditions, traumatic experiences, and emotional
wellbeing and mental health difficulties
- Contribute to the
maintenance of diagnostic assessment waitlists
- Carry out developmental
history assessments directly with parents/carers, and create subsequent reports
as part of the diagnostic assessment process
- Gather, analyse, report,
and present information as part of the diagnostic assessment and report-writing
process
- Support, and with
training, lead on structured interviews and observation-based diagnostic
assessments with a registered clinician
- Create post-diagnostic
reports to include personalised recommendations
- With appropriate
training, contribute to the delivery of cognitive assessments, and subsequent interpretation
and report creation, under supervision from an HCPC registered
psychologist
- In line with service
demands, co-facilitate psychoeducation and skills-based intervention groups for
children and young people with a range of presentations, with a registered
clinician
- Assess, plan, organise,
and deliver goal-based brief interventions with children, young people, and
parents/carers, in line with skills, training, and experience, as agreed with the
supervising clinician, and in line with service demands and clinical governance
- Document and maintain
accurate clinical records within the trusts electronic records system.
- Identify and report any
concerns with regards to the potential abuse/neglect of people and carers in
line with the Surrey Safeguarding Adults and Children Processes.
- Carry out service audit,
service development and evaluation projects, under the supervision of a
registered psychologist.
- Attend regular multi-disciplinary
(MDT) meetings
- Participate in team
audits and teaching sessions in the team as required
- Carry out any other
duties at the request of the supervisor that are in line with the role
