Job summary
Come and join our Psychology team and be part of shaping psychological provision across the older peoples community service. We are a supportive team that values innovation, fosters development and is passionate about the care of older people and their families.
We are looking for a qualified Clinical Psychologist to join our team (0.9 wte) providing high quality community services to older people within Surrey Heath. We work with those over 65-years who are faced with mental health and/or memory problems.
Our Psychology department recognise the importance of support for team members, have regular CPD sessions, externally provided skills workshops (e.g. CAT, CFT) and access to monthly specialist neuropsychology supervision in addition to regular clinical supervision, and management supervision. Our Trust is a pilot site for the Transformation agenda opening up further opportunities to train and develop skills allied to expanding and developing services and specialisms. Our department has expanded rapidly in the past few years allowing for further opportunities to take forward clinician interests, with strong links to local training courses and we value the contribution of our Psychologists in Training.
We offer a comprehensive induction programme, with regular supervision and a good peer support network. We value the contribution of our team and are able to offer some flexibility of working around service need, including both remote and in-person aspects of working.
Main duties of the job
This exciting role will involve working autonomously in conducting detailed assessment and formulation, therapeutic intervention, and neuropsychological assessments, covering both functional and organic problems for people living in the local community.
A key part of this role will be using clinical leadership skills to influence teams in embedding psychosocial approaches within everyday practice. You will also be supporting and supervising unqualified and qualified psychology staff.
There will be opportunities to lead on quality improvement projects and to contribute to the development of psychology provision across older peoples services. We support the undertaking of leadership and supervisor training to enable you to develop your skills and progress in your role.
You will be working collaboratively with members of a well-established multi-disciplinary team, where psychology is highly valued in the team.
The post holder may be required to travel throughout Surrey in line with service need and therefore a car driver or a willingness to travel by public transport is desirable.
