Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the 24-hour operation of the residential home, and for the operational delivery of a safe, caring, effective, person-centred service. To always observe best practice guidelines and lead with integrity, professionalism and empathy, within agreed resource boundaries, to provide optimal standards of care and support for people with a learning disability, mental health difficulties and complex or challenging needs. To assist the Trust in achieving the organisations Visions and Values.

Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is the leading provider of health and social care services for people of all ages with mental ill-health and learning disabilities in Surrey and North East Hampshire. We also provide social care services for people with a learning disability in Croydon and ASD and ADHD assessment services in Hampshire.

We actively seek to engage people who use our services and our communities in improving the mental wellbeing of the local population. We work closely with other NHS and voluntary sector organisations who provide services and support people who use services and carers.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Range of qualifications that demonstrate experience in and commitment to working with people with learning disabilities.

Desirable

  • Certificate in Management e.g. CMS
  • Diploma in Applied Psychology or similar qualification
  • Autism qualification
  • Applied Behavioural Qualification
  • Positive Behaviour Qualification
  • Registered Nurse Mental Health
  • Social Work Qualification

Experience

Essential

  • At least 2 years experience working with individuals with challenging behaviours/mental health needs/Autism
  • Good IT skillsKnowledge and awareness of Multi Agency Adult Protection policy and procedures
  • Knowledge of the management of multi disability including non-verbal communication
  • Knowledge and experience of using Disciplinary Policies and Procedures
  • Management of Attendance procedures
  • Knowledge of Valuing People
  • Knowledge of Capacity and Consent issues
  • Mental Capacity Act
  • Knowledge of the Care Planning Process, CPA & Positive Approach
  • Knowledge of the Active Support Model
